Military council’s Tantawi receives Jordanian king

Jordan's king arrived in Cairo on Tuesday for a short visit to Egypt during which he will visit Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, head of Egypt's ruling military council.

King Abdullah II will discuss recent developments of the Middle East peace process and the situations in Syria, Yemen and Libya. The two leaders will also discuss ways to bolster bilateral relations.

They will discuss Egyptian natural gas exports to Israel and the electricity link between Egypt and Jordan.

The visit is the Jordanian king's first since former President Hosni Mubarak resigned on 11 February.

Jordanian Prime Minister Marouf al-Bakhit's visit to Egypt in March constituted the first such visit for an Arab prime minister since Mubarak resigned.
