Egyptian international football star and Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah commented on his absence from the Reds’ squad for the third consecutive Premier League match against Leeds United.
Liverpool were held to a 3-3 draw by Leeds United in their Premier League match on Saturday, part of the 15th round of fixtures.
Salah remained on the bench for the entire 90 minutes of the Liverpool-Leeds United game.
“I had a good relationship with the manager – and all of a sudden, we do not have any relationship anymore. I don’t know why. I don’t understand what happened, why me — someone does not want me at the club!” Salah said in statements published by journalist Fabrizio Romano, as reported by TV2.
“I don’t think I’m the problem, I did my best always for Liverpool and they’re throwing me under the bus.”
“I have done so much for Liverpool and I don’t have to go everyday fighting for my position because I earned it. I’m not bigger than anyone,” Salah stressed, emphasizing that he had done enough to deserve his position.
Salah’s statements didn’t stop at his relationship with the coach, but even extended to raising questions about his future with the team.
“Future? We’ll see what happens. In my head, I will still enjoy the game, even when I don’t play or start,” he said.
“I will be in Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go to Africa Cup of Nations. I don’t know what’s going to happen when I’m there.”
