Monday official holiday for Egyptian bank employees

The Central Bank of Egypt announced that the end of the fiscal year for banks operating in Egypt on December 31, 2023 will see suspended work in all banks operating in the Egyptian market on Monday, January 1, 2024.

Work will resume on the morning of Tuesday, January 2, a CBE statement explained.

 

Is New Year’s an official holiday?

New Year’s Eve, which falls on Monday, December 31, is not an official holiday in Egypt – employees and school students resume their work and studies normally.

However Sunday, January 7, is scheduled to be an official holiday in Egypt for employees and students to celebrate Eastern Christmas.

This holiday is paid for workers in the public, governmental and private sectors.
