Morsy’s defense expects he won’t attend his third trial session

Ayman Nahed, a member of the defense team team in the presidential palace case, says he doesn not expect deposed President Mohamed Morsy to attend the third session of his trial on 1 February or the first session of the prison escape case on 28 January.

“I expect the authorities will come up with fabricated security reasons to prevent his appearance,” he said. “They do not want him to signal a message that may impact his supporters in the streets as happened on 4 November.”

He said the Borg al-Arab prison administration had on 2 January denied Morsy visits for a month, and thus clearly wouldn't let him leave.

The Interior Ministry revealed in a statement that bad weather prevented Morsy’s transport to the court by helicopter.
