Mosque workers in Daqahlia accuse three Salafis of assault

Three workers employed by a mosque in Belqas, Daqahlia, alleged on Monday that they were attacked by three Salafis who were angered when the workers refused to allow them to preach in the mosque.

In their police report, the workers claimed that the Salafis had illegally entered the Endowments Ministry-affiliated mosque after evening prayers on Sunday in order to lead a religious ceremony, although the ministry stipulates that the mosque remain closed after prayers.

The workers alleged that the same men returned to the mosque at dawn on Monday and attacked the workers when they refused to allow them to enter.
