Mubarak trial to be held in Heliopolis fair complex and broadcast on TV

Justice Minister Mohamed Abdel Aziz al-Guindi has announced that the trial of deposed President Hosni Mubarak, his two sons, former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and six of his aides will be held on 3 August in the “Investment Hall” of the Cairo International Fair complex in Heliopolis.

He also said that state television will broadcast the trial live and install giant screens in the main squares of Cairo so that people can follow the proceedings.

The Arab Contractors Company will supply the iron dock in which the defendants will be held during the trial.

Judicial sources said Mubarak would not attend the trial due to his allegedly poor health, which may prompt the judge to dispatch a representative of the court to Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital to present Mubarak with the charges leveled against him.
