Palestinian electrocuted in border tunnel

A 20-year-old Palestinian man died early this morning when he received an electric shock inside a tunnel under the Egyptian-Palestinian border, said Palestinian medical sources.

The accident occurred in a tunnel near the Salah el-Din gate on the outskirts of Rafah, in the southernmost part of the Gaza Strip.

Two other workers were injured last night when a chunk of sand collapsed onto them in another smuggling tunnel. They are reported to be in good condition.

Palestinian rights organizations say more than 150 Palestinians have died in tunnel accidents in the past three years.
