Petroleum Minister: US$5.9 billion in debts to foreign companies

Petroleum Minister Sherif Ismail said that he is negotiating to pay foreign companies some US$5.9 billion in debts.

He added after a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday that the ministry will negotiate in December to buy liquefied gas from Russia and Algeria.

He said the ministry provides 30,000 tons of fuel per day to power stations. “We have no problem with that,” he said.
