Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb issued decision on Tuesday specifying price of purchasing the electricity energy produced from stations using renewable energy sources to Egyptian Electricity Transfer Company (EETC) or electricity distribution companies.
Contracting with the renewable energy stations will take place depending on the feed-in tariff.
Published in the official gazette on Tuesday, the decision orders reconsidering the tariff after two years, or reaching the highest rate of the contractual capacities, whichever is sooner. Amendments of prices should apply to the new contracts.
According to the decision, prices should be stable for 25 contract years for electricity generated from solar energy and 20 years for electricity generated from wind energy, depending on the agreement of purchasing the electricity energy.
The price of electricity generated from solar energy for domestic usage will be 84.8 PT for every kilowatt hour.
The highest rate of contractual capacities, according to the decision, is 300 megawatts for projects of capacities less than 500 kilowatts and 2,000 megawatts for projects of capacities between 500 kilowatts-50 megawatts.
