CAIRO, Dec 8 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Monday held a meeting to follow up on the availability of basic food commodities and agricultural products in sufficient quantities and at affordable prices in markets nationwide.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa al-Din Farouk and Executive Director of the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority Bahaa al-Ghannam.

The agriculture minister reviewed cooperation with the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority for increasing the country’s production of poultry and table eggs.

In this regard, Farouk highlighted recent meetings held with members of the General Union of Poultry Producers and several investors, as they probed mechanisms for backing this national industry, through strengthening the production of veterinary vaccines, providing highly resilient breeds, and ensuring production is sustainable and sufficient to meet domestic demand at reasonable prices.

For his part, the prime minister emphasized the State’s ongoing efforts to ensure the availability of inputs and components for this vital industry, citing the current stability and decline in poultry prices.

Madbouli stressed the importance of sustaining the endeavors to make meat available in sufficient quantities and at affordable prices, especially ahead of the holy fasting month of Ramadan. (MENA)
