Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly Monday inspected the underway implementation of the first phases of Cairo Metro Line 4, which is carried out in accordance with directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to expand state’s green and sustainable public transport projects.
The premier was accompanied by Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir and Giza Governor Ahmed Rashed.
Madbouly’s inspection tour was attended by a number of lawmakers and leaderships of the Transport Ministry.
The Metro Line 4 is essential in terms of linking 6th of October city and New Cairo by the metro network, Madbouly said, noting that the fourth line would ease the transportation of passengers in densely populated areas like Al Haram, Faisal, Giza, Nasr City and New Cairo.
The Metro Line 4 is expected to transport some 1.5 million commuters daily after finalizing its first and second stages.
Meanwhile, the premier inspected the stations of the Pyramids, Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and Remaya, where the implementation rate of the construction work range between 34-42 percent, according the transport minister.
Wazir added that almost 8 percent of the restoration work in the vicinity of the GEM have been finalized, in preparation for the inauguration of the museum.
The 42-kilometer long Metro Line 4 comprises 39 stations, out of which 37 are underground and two are sub-surface stations, that are being carried out throughout two phases, the transport minister said.
