Policeman killed by gunmen in Sharqiya

A policeman was killed by armed men on motorbikes in Sharqiya on Tuesday.

The unknown assailants shot the policeman, killing him on his way to work in Abu Hammad police station, before fleeing the scene.

Recurrent attacks against police and army forces have left more than 700 personnel dead since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in 2013. While extremist groups claimed responsibility for most of the attacks, the government blames Morsi's outlawed Muslim Brotherhood for contributing to the assaults.
