Presidential guards reject summons served on Mubarak

The guards of ousted President Hosni Mubarak have refused to acknowledge receipt of the first summons served on him.

Mubarak is facing a lawsuit in his former capacity as president of the National Democratic Party (NDP). He is accused of corrupting political life, rigging elections and robbing public funds.

South Sinai Court representative Ashraf Mamdouh went to Mubarak’s residence in Sharm el-Sheikh, accompanied by police, to deliver the summons. However, the guards refused to receive it.

Lawyer Ibrahim Ali had filed a lawsuit before the Administrative Court against Mubarak in both his person and his official capacity, and the court had set an urgent session to hear the case.

Ali also filed to dissolve the NDP and sequester all its assets.
