Rain, unstable weather expected Sunday

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority expects Sunday's weather to be unstable on the north coast, especially in Salloum, Matrouh and Alexandria.

Rain that could lead to floods in some areas, as well as thunderstorms, will affect Lower Egypt, Cairo, Sinai, the Red Sea mountain chains and Upper Egypt starting Monday and lasting until Wednesday, said Ahmed Abdel Aal, head of the Meteorological Authority.

Abdel Aal added that wind will be active on both the Red and Mediterranean seas, affecting navigation.

Authority spokesperson Wahid Saudi said in a statement on Friday that northern Upper Egypt, Cairo and Lower Egypt would witness light rain on Sunday.

Local authorities throughout different governorates have continued maintenance work on water drains.

In Minya, Governor Salah Eddin Zeyada announced the cleaning of all 33 drains in the governorate. He issued directives to maintain the sides of the roads and prevent their collapse in the event of flooding.
