Rapper Marwan Pablo’s team issued an official statement in response to reports circulating about a court ruling upholding an earlier verdict sentencing him to prison.
They confirmed that the ruling is “not final” and that it has been appealed to higher courts.
Therefore, it does not represent the final decision in the case.
Pablo’s team also reassured his fans by confirming that the concert will take place as scheduled without any changes, and that all preparations are proceeding according to plan.
The statement concluded by urging the public not to be misled by rumors or inaccurate information, and to wait for the official final statement after appealing the verdict at all legal avenues.
Imprisonment Upheld
The Alexandria Economic Court upheld the one-year prison sentence with hard labor for Pablo, along with a bail of LE 100,000 to temporarily suspend the sentence.
The court also ordered him to pay a fine of LE 100,000 and court costs, on charges of violating public morals and publishing indecent content.
The court convicted Pablo of publishing audio clips with the intent to display them on the social media application TikTok through multiple accounts.
These clips contained content and expressions deemed offensive to public decency, the investigation revealed.
The court determined that publishing such lyrics undermines public dignity, and therefore sentenced the defendant to punishment for his actions, in accordance with the provisions of the Cybercrime Law and the Criminal Procedure Code.
