Riot forces stage sit-in for better leave system

About 2000 anti-riot forces employed by the Ministry of the Interior staged a sit-in in Cairo for a better leave system and working conditions.

The demonstrators work in the Fateh sector  in Nasr City. They are asking for a ten-day vacation each month after 20 consecutive days of work to replace the current system, which gives them an eight-day vacation after 24 days of continuous work, according to security sources.

The security conscripts are among the lowest tier of Ministry of Interior employees. They earn low salaries and are usually recruited from rural areas to serve the Central Security Forces for up to one year.

It is believed that the Central Security conscripts number about 400,000 and are often deployed to quell strikes, riots and protests.
