Sharm el-Sheikh protesters want Mubarak out

Sharm el-Sheikh residents, many of whom make their livelihood in the tourism industry, want their former president – and the security measures that come with him – out of their city.

Hundreds marched after Friday prayers from the Mostafa Mosque to Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital where ousted President Hosni Mubarak is being treated to demand that he leave, saying his presence is hurting Sinai tourism.

"Mubarak go away, let the cycle of production go forth," and "O Mubarak where are you? We can't see you," they chanted.

A large number of Central Security Forces surrounded the hospital to prevent protesters from approaching as local vendors joined the demonstration.

The protests coincided with a nationwide effort Friday to renew demands to bring former officials to justice and purge the government of remnants of Mubarak's regime.
