CAIRO, Dec 11 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa called for fully implementing the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and ensuring an urgent and unimpeded access of humanitarian aid into the Palestinian enclave, as well as accelerating the start of the territory’s reconstruction process.
The remarks came in a phone call received by President Sisi from the Bahraini monarch on Thursday, as they discussed the latest regional developments, particularly the updates in Gaza, said Presidential Spokesman Mohamed al-Shennawy.
The spokesman added that the two leaders explored the distinguished Egyptian-Bahraini relations and means to foster them in various areas, in a way that serves the two countries’ interests and enhances Arab solidarity.
The pair reiterated their total rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land, especially as the Palestinian cause will remain at the forefront of Arab and international attention.
They also underlined the importance of the full implementation of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan, as endorsed in the relevant UN Security Council Resolution 2803, viewing it as a framework for achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
Sisi and King Hamad agreed to continue communication and coordination on issues of mutual interest, given the challenging circumstances facing the region. (MENA)
