President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is following up the latest developments in the Gaza Strip from the national strategic crisis management center, presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said Saturday.
His statement came after Israel declared a state of war following a surprise attack by the Palestinian Hamas group early this morning.
President Sisi directed to intensify Egyptian contacts to contain the situation and prevent further escalation between the two parties, the spokesman added.
