Aswan prosecution detained six people belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood 15 days pending investigation. They are being charged for assaulting and torturing 8 policemen in a pro-Morsy sit-in, rioting, mobilizing, destroying public and private properties, and burning police cars at the vicinity of the governorate's headquarters.
The defendants denied the accusations during interrogations.
Security forces are tracking 47 others after the prosecution issued arrest warrants against them.
The defendants are accused of dragging police leaders and torturing them, storming the governorate's headquarters, burning 5 police cars and a fire truck, and causing damage to the headquarters during a confrontation between protesters and police in Aswan.
A large number of Brotherhood leaders escaped and disappeared after security forces raided their houses and places they frequented. During the crackdown, police seized computers and documents belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood.
