Sixty trucks of aid cross the Rafah crossing, the largest since Israel’s assault on Gaza began

Sixty trucks of humanitarian aid arrived in Gaza on Monday morning via the Rafah crossing, the largest daily shipment to pass through the crossing since the current Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip began.

Egyptian media outlets announced on Sunday that Egypt had arranged to bring 60 trucks of aid to Gaza within a few hours.

The Al-Qahra News Channel reported that this comes as part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to ensure continued and increased flow of aid to Gaza that meet the needs of Palestinian citizens.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a phone call on Sunday from his US counterpart Joe Biden, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency Ahmed Fahmy announced.

The two presidents discussed the overall security situation in the Middle East, the latest developments in the military escalation in the Gaza Strip, and the importance of preventing the expansion of conflict into the region.

Sisi affirmed Egypt’s position on reaching an immediate humanitarian truce and to enhance efforts undertaken by Egypt in cooperation with the UN and international powers – especially the US – to deliver all aid to the people of the Gaza Strip.

The Gaza Strip has been subjected to Israeli land, sea and air bombardment since Hamas and other Palestinian factions launched operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” on October 7.

The “Al-Aqsa Flood” was met with the Israeli “Iron Swords” operation, as the Israeli army launched raids on Gaza Strip, which is inhabited by more than two million Palestinians who suffer from deteriorating living conditions, as a result of an ongoing Israeli siege since 2006.
