Some rural villages without power during summer heat

Power has been cut in five villages in Belqas for more than eight hours everyday due to repairs on the main grid, leaving residents without AC during the blistering heat of summer.

“There is either no electricity or the current is to low to operate a fan,” says Ahmed Abdel Halim from the Demiana village.

In Quseir, power was cut as the main turbines have expired and need to be replaced.
