Source: Palestine’s Abbas to call on Sisi to open Rafah border crossing

An official from the Palestinian presidency said on Saturday that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will request from Egyptian president-elect Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who will be inaugurated on Sunday, during their meeting offering economic facilities as well as opening the Rafah border crossing.
 
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source said that Abbas will work on convincing the Egyptian side to return the border crossing to as it was before June 2013.
 
The source indicated to necessity of opening the border in order to be another practical success for the Palestinian reconciliation. He added that there will be international pressure on Israel to lighten restrictions imposed on transfer of merchandise as well as individuals via Karm abu Salem exit linking between Western Bank and Gaza strip.
