Suez protesters occupy government buildings

Thousands of protesters in the Canal Zone city of Suez occupied three governmental buildings demanding that President Hosni Mubarak leave.

Eyewitnesses said that tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered after the Friday prayer and marched towards Arbeen Square, where there had been a bloody confrontation between the protesters and the police in late January.

The demonstrators occupied the governorate office, the municipality building and the Arbeen local office.
Protesters carried photos of some of the 24 people who were killed in late January during the clashes.
