Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has grossed US$ 17.6 million in previews since its world premiere on July 6 in London.
Nolan’s film is projected to earn between nine million and $100 million in its opening weekend, which would be the director’s biggest debut to date, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises, which grossed $160 million in 2012.
This would also make it the third 2026 film to reach or exceed $100 million in its opening weekend, alongside Toy Story 5 ($159 million) and Super Mario Galaxy ($131 million).
The film, based on the titular Greek epic poem, follows Odysseus’s perilous journey home after the Trojan War, during which he encounters all sorts of fantastical beings such as the cyclops, mermaids and witches.
The film stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal.
