Three rolls containing explosive materials exploded in Shubra Al-Khaima Police Station on Wednesday, according to the Interior Ministry Media Center. No injuries were reported.
The media spokesperson said in a statement issued early Thursday that there were 16 rolls of homemade explosives in the possession of an ex-convict who was targeted by the police for possession of firearms and arrested Wednesday evening.
The three rolls exploded while examining the seized materials for the incident report.
The case was referred to prosecution.
