Tire blowout causes massive 8-vehicle crash on Maadi Ring Road

Another horrific accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning when a heavy-duty truck (trailer) collided with seven private cars on the Ring Road in Maadi.

The collision resulted in the total destruction of all seven cars and caused widespread panic among citizens and drivers in the accident area.

The Cairo Emergency Operations Room had first received a report from residents about a traffic accident on the Maadi Ring Road.

Traffic police immediately responded to the scene, and tow trucks were dispatched to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow.

Photos from the scene showed extensive damage to the vehicles, though no causalities or injuries been reported so far.

Investigations by Cairo security agencies revealed that a tire blowout on the truck’s trailer was the cause of the collision. This incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning on the Ring Road within the Maadi area, led to the crash involving seven private cars.

Further investigations and on-site inspections indicated that the truck driver lost control of the steering wheel immediately after the tire exploded.

This caused the truck to swerve suddenly and collide with several vehicles that were either stopped or moving slowly due to traffic congestion near the Autostrad Tunnel, in the direction coming from Maadi towards Mounib.

Immediately after the accident, the General Traffic Department’s operations room received a report from security services assigned to the road.

Police forces, supported by ambulances and traffic tow trucks, quickly arrived. Rescue teams were deployed to clear the aftermath of the collision and resume traffic movement.

The truck and the damaged vehicles were moved to the side of the road, while traffic officers worked to regulate flow after the accident caused traffic jams that lasted for about an hour until the scene was completely cleared.

The Public Prosecution has initiated investigations, requesting detective inquiries into the circumstances of the incident. It also summoned the truck driver for questioning and impounded the truck for examination by a technical committee to assess its mechanical condition, paving the way for determining the responsibilities.

The initial inspection confirmed no injuries or fatalities, with losses limited to material damage. A report of the incident has been filed, pending submission to the Public Prosecution, which has ordered swift action.
