Transport Ministry seeks to install electronic gates at railway stations

Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir said that the ministry seeks to implement a new system for entry and exit of passengers to railway stations by equipping entrances with electronic gates similar to those installed at metro stations.

The minister added that the Ministry’s efforts to implement the new system is part of its strategy to ensure that the passengers get ticket before entering the station, calling on Canadian and British companies to cooperate with the Ministry of Transport in this regard.

The minister’s announcement coincides with the Transport Ministry’s efforts to prevent citizens from ascending trains without a ticket and to impose fines on violators.
