Trump says US studied Iran’s proposal and deemed it ‘unacceptable’

US President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that Washington had studied Iran’s latest revised proposal, submitted days earlier through Pakistani mediation, and said it was ‘unacceptable’.

In an interview with the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, Trump said, “The negotiations with Iran are stalled, and the latest proposal is unacceptable.”

Iran previously announced that the US had responded to its 14-point proposal through Pakistan and that it was reviewing the response.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said that “there are no nuclear negotiations at this stage,” according to official media.

Axios quoted sources as saying that “the Iranian proposal is far from the minimum American position.”
