Two Egyptians remanded into custody for joining ‘Shia organization’

The North Cairo Court has remanded into custody two Egyptians–an engineer and a trader–for 45 days pending investigation on charges of joining a Shia-Muslim organization and disparaging religion.

Three other defendants in the same case each posted bail set at LE10,000.

The defendants were initially arrested in September.
