
The UAE on Thursday announced the first-ever deployment of Egyptian forces within its borders.
This announcement came in the wake of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s visit to Abu Dhabi and his meeting with his Emirati counterpart, Mohammed bin Zayed.
The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that Sisi and bin Zayed conducted an inspection visit to the Egyptian fighter jet detachment stationed in the UAE to assess their readiness and the efforts being made to enhance operational capabilities and prepare for various challenges.
The WAM added that bin Zayed received Sisi discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation.
Both sides reviewed regional developments and their repercussions on regional and international security and stability.
According to the WAM, Sisi reiterated his condemnation of Iranian terrorist attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in the UAE.
Egypt’s leader affirmed his nation’s solidarity with the UAE in every measure it takes to protect its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its territory, citizens, and residents.
