Tragedy struck the Assiut Western Road—near Tamia in the Faiyum Governorate— after a tourist bus and truck collision resulted in the deaths of 12 people and left 30 others injured.
This prompted an urgent response from ambulance crews and relevant authorities to assist the victims and manage the aftermath of the crash.
According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred when the tourist bus, traveling from Upper Egypt, collided with the truck that was stationary on the road.
The impact caused the bus to be violently torn in two.
Preliminary assessments by traffic police suggest that the bus driver may have been inattentive, which could have led to the collision. However, the competent authorities have not yet announced the definitive cause of the accident, pending further technical inspections and formal investigations.
Ambulances were dispatched to the scene on the Asyut Western Road; the injured were transported to hospitals to receive necessary medical care, while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the morgue, pending further action by the Public Prosecution.
Authorities from the General Directorate of Traffic arrived at the scene to oversee the situation, manage the aftermath of the collision, clear the wreckage of the bus and the truck, and restore the flow of traffic.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the accident and assign responsibility, pending the results of technical assessments currently being conducted by the Public Prosecution.
