Upcoming heatwave – spike in temperatures across Egypt starting Friday

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) released its latest forecast for Cairo and the governorates, announcing a temperature spike of up to two degrees starting Friday.

A moderately hot, humid breeze will greet the early morning, giving way to extremely hot and humid conditions nationwide during the day.

Coastal areas will remain hot and humid, while nighttime temperatures will stay moderately warm across most regions. Intermittent winds from Friday through Sunday, will help offer occasional relief, particularly during evening hours.

 

Morning fog & high humidity alert

Dense Morning Fog: Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution between four am and eight am. Heavy morning fog is expected on key highways connecting Greater Cairo, the Delta region, and the northern coast.

 

Peak nighttime humidity:

  • Northern Coast: 90 percent – 95 percent
  • Greater Cairo & Nile Delta: 80 percent – 85 percent
  • Northern Upper Egypt: 60 percent – 66 percent
  • Southern Upper Egypt: 30 percent – 35 percent

 

Temperature breakdown:

  • Greater Cairo: Expected High of 36°C
  • Northwestern Coast: Expected High of 32°C
  • Northern Upper Egypt: Expected High of 37°C
  • Southern Upper Egypt: Expected High of 41°C
