US ambassador: US Cooperates militarily with Egypt to eliminate terrorism in the Sinai

US ambassador to Cairo Stephen Beecroft, said on Saturday that there is cooperation on the level of military leaders between the United States and Egypt to eliminate terrorism in the Sinai peninsula.

He explained, in his speech during a ceremony organized by the US Consulate in Alexandria on the opening of its new headquarters, that the United States gives Egypt $1.3 billion annually in military aid, and among the most prominent uses of it is the elimination of terrorism in the Sinai.

He added that his country is serious about eliminating terrorism in all countries, especially "Islamic State" (IS) terrorist organization, adding that Washington has made great efforts in this matter and is cooperating in this area with Iraq and Syria forp the elimination of IS.

He stressed that Egypt is a strategic partner in the region, and that an increase in the volume of trade exchange between the two countries will reflect positively on the entire region.
