Wafd Party medical convoy enters Gaza

A medical aid caravan dispatched by the opposition Wafd Party arrived in the Gaza Strip on Thursday morning. The convoy includes eight pickup trucks carrying medicine and medical equipment.

Wafd Party President El-Sayed el-Badawi said he was unable to accompany the convoy because he was focused on resolving the ongoing conflict between Egypt’s lawyers and judges.

In Gaza, the convoy was received by a delegation from the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC).

At a press conference, PLC member Younis el-Astal said: “Gaza has been under siege for four years because the Palestinian people chose their leaders in a free and fair election observed by the entire  world.”

According to Egyptian authorities at the Rafah border crossing, 18,000 Palestinians have traversed the crossing–in both directions–within the past month.
