Iranian state television has announced the commencement of “Basha’er al-Fath” (Tidings of Victory) operations against the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. This significant development marks a direct targeting of a major US military installation in the Middle East, a key strategic hub for American forces in the region.
Following this, Iranian media outlets reported the initiation of a retaliatory strike against U.S. bases in both Qatar and Iraq. This action comes amidst escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington, particularly after recent American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and subsequent Iranian retaliatory missile attacks on Israel.
Axios news site further reported that Iran has launched six missiles at American bases located in Qatar. Concurrently, Agence France-Presse (AFP) and Reuters confirmed that explosions were heard in Doha, the capital of Qatar, where the sprawling Al Udeid Air Base is situated. This incident represents a dramatic and direct escalation in the ongoing regional conflict.
