Weather forecasters predict cold front from Monday to New Year

Egypt's National Weather Forecast Authority (NWFA) has predicted a cold front expected to last from Monday, 27 December until New Year’s Day.

“The cold front is expected to cause a number of other temperature drops during Egypt's winter season,” NWFA chief Mohamed Issa told Al-Masry Al-Youm.

Reuters News Agency has reported that a rise in the earth's temperature was the immediate cause of the cold fronts, noting that three extremely cold winter seasons had occurred within the last decade.

Mohamed al-Raei, a professor of environmental studies and an expert on climate change at Alexandria University, said that climate change was behind the recent spate of “severe and abnormal” cold and hot fronts.
