Young Coptic says he escaped the IS massacre

A young Egyptian Coptic man told Al-Hayat satellite channel on Tuesday that he avoided the Islamic State's massacre of 21 Egyptians in Libya by returning alone to Egypt.

Isaac Saeed said he had agreed with his friends to come back to Egypt because of the deteriorating conditions there. “We decided to move separately so that we did not get caught,” he said.

He said IS first kidnapped seven Coptic Christians on 27 December while they were returning to Egypt, then another 13 a few days later from their homes. “But I managed to escape alone,” he said, adding that he was told IS had a list of all their names.
