Cairo to host meeting for Syrian opposition

Cairo will host a meeting that brings together a group of Syrian national figures to discuss the crisis in Syria at the headquarters of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs from 22 to 24 January.
 
Foreign Minister Sameh Shokry pointed to intentions a few days ago to hold a meeting between different Syrian opposition forces in coordination with Egyptian intellectuals to prepare for another meeting scheduled to be held in Moscow soon.
 
Egypt discussed possible steps it could take with Hady Behra, head of the Syrian National Coalition and the General Coordinator of the National Coordination Committee for the Forces for Democratic Change Hassan Abdel Azim, Shokry said.
 
He stressed that Egypt is communicating with different parties regarding the crisis including regional and international parties interested in Syrian affairs. Cairo is interested in the unity of Syria and a peaceful solution to the crisis.
