Campaign in Europe to promote tourism

Tourism Ministry Undersecretary Ahmed Shoukry said that Egypt is launching a promotional campaign mid-August until the end of December in six European countries to attract tourists.

The countries that are major markets for inbound tourism are Russia, Germany, England, Italy, Poland and Ukraine.

“The campaign aims to restore 25 percent of the traffic that was lost in the first half of this year,” Shoukry said. “It also aims to improve the perception foreigners have.”

He explained that the campaign, which would focus on cultural tourism, would be launched on the Internet and in international fairs. “We will also host tourism experts and intensify public relations activities,” he said.

“Seven Western states lifted a travel ban on Sharm al-Sheikh,” he added. “This will help our campaign.”
