Will Egypt’s internet and mobile service prices rise by 35%?

Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) denied rumors circulating about a 35 percent increase in internet and mobile service prices, confirming that no official decision has been issued on the matter.

NTRA spokesperson Mohamed Ibrahim said on Tuesday that the news circulating on the matter is “incorrect so far,” RT reported.

He explained that the NTRA is monitoring the information and rumors circulating regarding telecommunications services and their prices, emphasizing that any price changes will not be approved or announced outside official channels.

Ibrahim stressed that if an official decision is made regarding an increase in internet or mobile service prices, it will be announced through an official statement issued by the NTRA, which will include details of the decision, the percentage of the increase, and its reasons.

The spokesperson emphasized the importance of obtaining information regarding telecommunications service prices from official sources, given the spread of unverified news online.

These statements come at a time when telecommunications and internet service prices are of greater interest to users in Egypt, with rising costs of operating mobile and internet networks and the increasing reliance on digital services in daily life.
