Egypt refuses to send troops to fight IS in Iraq and Syria

Egypt refused to dispatch troops to Iraq and Syria to take part in military operations against the Islamic State (IS) organization, as international war led by the United States against the organization.

Dispatching troops abroad requires legal and constitutional measures, informed sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm, adding that Egypt is fighting terrorism locally and securing all strategic borders at the same time.

US Secretary of State John Kerry, who was in Turkey on Friday to acknowledge its stance toward the alliance against IS, said that Arab countries will play crucial role and that the alliance countries did not mention sending ground troops.

Kerry is currently in Cairo to propose with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shokry and Arab League Chief Nabil al-Araby an expansion of the alliance.
