Reconciliation predicted during Sisi, Erdogan Saudi Arabia visits

Saudi Arabia may be sponsoring a reconciliation between Egypt and Turkey as the leaders of both countries will visit the kingdom this weekend, Turkish Anadolu News Agency reported.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Saudi Arabia Saturday and is scheduled to meet with King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz. Egypt’s Abdel Fattah al-Sisi flies there on Sunday.

Egypt and Turkey severed diplomatic ties in 2013 and have been involved in a media and diplomatic 'war' since the ousting of former Egyptian president and Ankara ally Mohamed Morsy.

The agency said Riyadh, in mending ties between Cairo and Ankara, is apparently seeking to restructure a regional alliance against the kingdom’s Shia regional foe, Iran.

The three nations may also reach an agreement on uniting Arab military efforts against terrorism, the agency predicted.
