Tut Ankh Amon tomb closure postponed, mummy not to be relocated

Antiquities Minister Mamdouh Al-Damaty has decided to call off the periodic maintenance closure of Pharaonic King Tut Ankh Amon’s tomb, previously slated for November, until the end of the current tourism season.

The minister reiterated that the “Golden Pharaoh's” mummy will remain in the Valley of the King in Luxor, ending speculations about the possibility of transferring it to another location.

Damaty, during a tour at the valley, said 95 percent of the work has been finished in the area’s lighting and security project. He said a Polish mission is also close to finishing its work at Al-Deir Al-Bahary temple and is expected to open it for visitors soon.
