Ten people died and six others were injured after a bus overturned on the Safaga-Qena road late Monday.

The bus was carrying a number of workers from Qena's Shikhiya village who were on their way back home from Hurghada and Safaga to spend the Eid al-Adha vacation with their families. Twelve ambulances were sent to the scene to transport the dead and injured.

Thousands from Qena's al-Shikhiya village who reside in Hurgada and Safaga held funeral services for the victims before their bodies were transported back to Qena.

An investigation by the Safaga police have found that the bus's rear tire went off, causing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel.
