28 high school students dismissed for campus protests

West Fayyoum Educational Department chief Wafaa al-Besheihy has ordered the suspension of 28 students for 10 days for refusing to attend classes and staging an on-campus protest.

Besheihy said orders were issued not to discuss political issues at schools so students’ study would not be affected.

Several students at Ain Shams University High School for Girls staged a sit-in at the campus in protest against what they called the "military coup" and for police arresting fellow students during a march staged Tuesday.

As teachers called on them to attend their classes, a small number refused.
