38 killed in another day of violence amid 6 October celebrations

Renewed violence across Egypt has left 38 dead and over 200 hundreds injured, said Khaled al-Khatib, head of the Health Ministry's emergency services department.

Thousands of Egyptians took to the streets to celebrate the 6 October anniversary of the country's 1973 war with Israel, while anti-coup protesters and supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood marched in cities up and down the country.

Clashes involving local residents and security forces against protesters left scores dead.

Fifteen people were killed in Cairo, 17 in Giza, four in Beni Suef and two in Minya, Health Ministry officials confirmed.

One person was injured in Beni Suef and another in Minya, while the remainder were wounded in towns and cities across the country.
