Antiquities Ministry employees stage protests, request tenure

Employees of the Ministry of Antiquities staged protests on Tuesday outside the Egyptian Museum. They closed the main gate and prevented tourists and visitors from entering.

The 4,065 employees demanded tenure, better salaries and the cleansing of the ministry from corruption.

The protestors refused calls by the police to calm down and meet with the minister to discuss their demands.
