FJP member imprisoned for damaging Shafiq’s campaign HQ

A Freedom and Justice Party member was sentenced Saturday to a month in prison for damaging Ahmed Shafiq's campaign headquarters last June.

Adwa Misdemeanor Court in Minya also ordered party members Ahmed Mahmoud Abdel Samad, Mostafa Saad Ibrahim, Walid Ali Marzook and Mohammad Halim Hassan to each pay a LE200 fine, LE1001 as atemporary civil compensation and LE50 in attorney fees.

The case came after the vandalizing of Shafiq's headquarters on 18 June 2012 during celebrations for Mohamed Morsy's electoral victory.

One other defendant, Taha Mohamed Hassan, was released after a reconciliation session.

Hassan was accused of physically assaulting a man and damaging a vehicle while the other defendants stormed Shafiq's headquarters.
