Lindsay Lohan stirs controversy with ‘converting to Islam’ rumors

American actress and pop singer Lindsay Lohan caused a storm of controversy on social media. Logan chose to omit all the photos and posts on her official instagram and Twitter accounts and wrote "Alaikum salam" in her instagram account's biography, a greeting in Islam that translates to "and peace unto you."

Many Arab fans predicted that Lohan had converted to Islam. A close friend to Lohan, though, told MySa website that what Lohan has actually done was just a kind of change that she tends to do.

Lohan recently visited Turkey and appeared in photos with a headscarf and a Quran in her hand during her visit.

The young actress has not commented on the circulated rumors, nor clarified why she omitted her instagram and Twitter posts.

According to MySa, Lohan was seen a few days ago in public without a headscarf. She still attends public events with the same bold clothes.

According to Daily Mail, this is not the first time that Lohan, who descends from the Italian and Irish origins and received Catholic teachings in her childhood, shows an interest in other religions, as she pointed out in her interview with Winfrey that she is a "spiritual" person.

The actress' official Facebook page says that her two movies Freaky Friday (2003) and Mean Girls (2004) earned her several MTV Movie Awards and Teen Choice Awards. "Lohan's debut studio album, Speak (2004), was certified platinum. Her second album, A Little More Personal (Raw) (2005), was certified gold", accordign to the page.

She starred in Disney's Herbie: Fully Loaded in 2005, A Prairie Home Companion and Bobby in 2006, TV film Labor Pains in 2009, TV film Liz & Dick in 2012.
